Michaelmas Collective tops at 2,650gns
The Michaelmas Collective Dairy Sale met strong trade, peaking at 2,650gns for a freshly calved heifer at Sedgemoor on Tuesday.
Sale topper, Beneknowle Rampager Jean 9th, bred by PJ Andrews, Plymouth, Devon and sired by the hombred bull, Rampager, and out of Beneknowle Baroque Jean 7th. She sold giving 36kg to an undisclosed buyer.

Next at 2,300gns was Lilylane Bolt Lila 9th from vendors AJ Bennett and Sons, Templecombe, Somerset. Sired by Gen-I-Beq Bolton ET, VG 87 and out of Lilylane Hotshot Lila 5th, VG 86, she has 11 generations of Very Good or Excellent behind her. She went home to Carmarthen, Wales.
Also from the same vendors was Lilylane Macoy Corbleu 18th, who was knocked down to 2,200gns by a local buyer from Bridgewater, Somerset. Out of Lilylane Lymeshot Corbleu 7th, VG88, she was sired by Demire Macoy ET.
Top priced cow that made 2,300gns came from Roland and Simon Bugler, Bridport, Dorset, with their second-calver Bettiscombe Shottle Lenora 41st, VG 85. Sired by Picton Shottle, EX96 and out of Bettiscombe Capri Lenora 15th, EX 90 twice, she did 10,000kg as a heifer and sold to the same Carmarthen buyer giving 48kg. She was one of a consignment of three cows and six heifers from Bettiscombe, which averaged £2,295.
Several other heifers sold well in excess of 2,000gns from Dimond Farming Limited, RG and SR Farms, first time consigners MR and CA Buckland, Maundrils Farm Partners, RJ Goss and Son and RK and SG Miller and Sons.
Four calved Jersey cows from SE Lane and Partners, Kent sold to 1,160gns for the third-calver Hareplain Verify Molly.
In-calf heifers sold to 1,680gns for Curscombe Ramone Alder 152nd from Andy Neill Farm Services Limited, 1,660gns for RF Tucker and Son and 1,500gns for Courtside Mathys Rita 35th from GM Lambert, Tetbury.
Bulling heifers from LWR and KA Hill sold to 1,120gns for Sampfordel Yen Buttermaid and Sampfordel Jeeves Katrina. July 2013-born heifers from R and J Bowles Sidedowns herd sold to 940gns and 10 month-old heifers from MP and PM Perrett sold to 770gns for daughters of Coyne-Farms Dorcy.
A good entry of bulls topped at 1,800gns for a pedigree Montbeliarde from G Rowe Farm Partners.
