Mixed emotions for Craven Dairy trade topper

Success at Craven Dairy Auction this week brought mixed emotions for Yorkshire dairy farmer Robert Crisp, Nelson Farm, Calton when his Holstein Friesian second calver took the champion title and top price of the day.

 Selling because his herd due to the DFoB collapse, the champion cow who is a home-bred daughter of Semex sire Comestar Stormatic, sold giving six gallons to Robin Boothman, Burnley for £2250.

 

Next in line was another prize winner, Myersdale Sportsman consigned by Malcolm and Robert Swires, Beckwithshaw. Giving 30 litres, she sold for £1980 to Wick Williams, Cheshire.

 

In-calf cows saw stiff competition, topping at £1440 for Alan Thompson Farms, Glusburn and selling to David Mattinson, Bracewell.
