Moira Holsteins sell to 2160gns

Trade for pedigree cows and heifers peaked at 2160gns at last week’s Holstein NI show and sale, Moira.

Leading the day’s offering was the Ards Revelation Trina 1 from Harry Patton and Sons, Newtownards. This GP classified second calver gave more than 7600 litres in her first lactation. She is by the homebred Comestar Outside son, Ards Revelation, and sold to William Ferguson, Derrygonnelly.

Second highest price of the day 2080gns, was paid to Beattie Lilburn, Dromore, for his August 2008 born heifer, Hycrest Bolton Judy. Sired by Sandy Valley Bolton, she calved in mid April and joins Richard Mackey’s herd at Dromore, County Down.  

The same price was paid to Sam McCormick for Hilltara Jayz Edwina. This one is by Hornland Jayz, and out of a VG87 dam by Pursuit September Storm. This heifer calved her first three weeks ago and sold to Edwin Glasgow, Armagh.

Next best at 2000gns was Ballycrochan Marion Baroness, a November 2008 born heifer bred by Aubrey Patterson. She is by the Etazon Addison son, Veazland Marion, and sold to William Herron, Newtownhamilton.
