Monckhaven Holsteins sell to 4200gns lead call
Topping last week’s first sale to disperse the Monckhaven herd of Holsteins for Martin and Jackie Monckton was second calver Monckhaven Rampage Mitzy Red at 4200gns.
This is a Rampage daughter which have close to 10,000kg in her first lactation and was three weeks calved at the sale and sold giving 50kg a day. She went to Redgate Farming, Peterborough.
Selling at 3000gns was Monckhaven Wildman Judy, a VG88 classified daughter of Ladys-Manor Wildman out of Coxongreen Judy 238, a Ked Juror daughter. She sold having calved her second in October last year and was back in calf to O-Bee Krown. Taking this one home was M A Jeanes, Bridgwater, for the Stowey herd.
Making 2750gns was Monckhaven Goldwyn Eliza 2, a second calved Goldwyn daughter sold giving 38kg a day. She was knocked down to the Lomas family’s Broomlea herd, Nantwich. Just 50gns short of that mark at 2700gns was Monckhave Goldwyn Merct, another Goldwyn daughter. Bred from five generations of Excellent cows she is due with her second to Stantons Steady and went to Clayden Holsteins, Crewe.
Leading the in-calf heifers was a 2350gns call for Monkhaven Royce Liberty, a Sterndale Rose Royce Red daughter bred from five generations of Excellent cows and carrying a calf by Willsbro Razzle Red. She went to W and M Miller, Wigton. Meanwhile, her maternal sister by Maughlin Storm sold for 2150gns. This one sold to S T Layton and Sons, Hereford.
