National Dairy Show – NEC – Holstein heifer champion withdrawn

By Simon Wragg

Welcome back to Livestock Event 2013 at the NEC, Birmingham, for the second day of the show where overnight it has been announced Holstein exhibitor Richard Bown’s Heifer champion from yesterday’s classes Gaitsgill Pagewire Tilly is unable to compete in today’s finals after a slip in the show arena yesterday resulting in a swollen joint.

That news will disappoint both the exhibitor and supporters after Mr Bown’s sterling performance on the first day of showing. As a result yesterday’s Reserve Heifer champion Bublebee Hall Matson Pearl from T Smith & Sons is elevated into today’s finals.

Stockmanship classes kick off the competitions at 9.15am. Once again FARMERS WEEKLY is ringside to help keep you – the supporters of all dairy breeds – in touch with events as they unfold. Keep posted whether out on-farm or here at the NEC complex as we welcome back into Hall 17’s main arena another fine display of dairy talent.
