National Dairy Show NEC Inter-breed Supreme Champion taken by R A Bown’s Loukat Lucky

By Simon Wragg

If Richard Bown dared have a birthday wish that his Ayrshire breed champion would get through to take the Supreme Inter-breed champion’s title with a maximum score of 50/50 – collecting the RABDF Perpetual trophy – then it was a wish that sealed a superb show for the exhibitor and the breed itself.

Loukat Lucky, by Ardrosson Kates Trident and out of City View Pansy, impressed the panel of individual breed judges culminating in a raptuous round of applause when the maximum combined score was announced by commentator Mike Tucker.

And the joy for Mr Bown must have been even greater having had to withdraw his Holstein Heifer In-milk champion at the start of day two after it sustained an injury out of the ring.

Into Reserve Supreme champion goes the Brown Swiss breed champion Soulseat Jublend Beatrice from R McColm having scored 42/50; just one point ahead of the Jersey breed champion Bluegrass Remakes Blackest Blonde from Mr & Mrs B A Daw.
