New breeder tops Lleyn sale at Carmarthen
Lleyn sheep at Carmarthen saw a new breeder top the ram section. Teulu Price, Lampeter sold Liambed Bruce for 800gns to ST Morris, Hay on Wye. This shearling ram is bred from a Lionel Organ sire out of a K James-Evans ewe. This was the first time selling for the Price family.
E and D Jones, Machynlleth sold a Geldard sired ram out of a homebred ewe for 750gns to HM Wells, Cardigan. The first prize ram Bronallt Bert from AW Davies, Pwllheli sold for 480gns to R Marshall, Carmarthen.
In the shearling ewe section it was Lionel Organ and the first prize pen that topped at £150/head selling to JS and E Radcliffe, Swansea.
WJ and DJ Williams, Pwllheli was next to sell a pen at £140/head to AJ Law. Christine Lewis, Caersws sold two pens at £130/head & £128/head both to R & G Davies, Llandysul. The third prize pen from DW Ellis, Betws y Coed sold for £120/head to Oriel Jones, Llanybyther.
In the ewe lambs section J & R Twose, Whitland sold their first prize pen for £130/head to JS & E Radcliffe, Swansea. Messrs Twose had the next top with £98/head selling to the same purchaser. Lionel Organ sold a pen for £90/head to H Francis, Aberystwyth.

Lleyn trade at Thainstone saw demand for well firm sheep. It was W and N Lawrence, Blackpots who came out on top. They had the first prize shearling gimmers which went on to sell for the top price of £180/head to the judge J Campbell and Co, Todholes. Messrs Lawrence also had the top priced ram at 700gns selling to A Smith, Leys. The first prize pen of ewe lambs form D Henderson and R Macleod, Bardspark sold for the top price in this section of £90/head.
