New centre record set for Simmental bulls at Bristol
Trade was described as electric at the Simmental Cattle Society’s spring show and sale at Washingpool, Bristol (10 May), where a new centre record of 9,600gns was set.
Record setter was the pre-sale male champion Bosahan Dynamo bred and exhibited by Mr and Mrs J Olds, Constantine, Falmouth. Sired by Skerrington Armada he is out of a Kibride Farm Newry daughter. Buyer was Michael Barlows’ Denizies herd Nr Leyland, Lancashire.
Next best at 6,000gns was Crackley Detonator from Messers Booth and Bell, Kenilworth, Warwickshire. Detonator, a Holm Danni son, out of a Crackley Hannibal daughter sold to CM Mercer, Hope-Under-Dinmore, Leominster, Herefordshire.
Two bulls traded at 5,100gns. The first Wroxall Dave-The -Rave, from CH Evans and son, Wroxall, Warwickshire, was a Tiset Darwin son, out of a Lambclose Triton daughter. Buyer again was CM Mercer.
At the same money was Grangewood Endeavor form Mr and Mrs AS and YA Leedham, Swadlincote Derbyshire. Endeavor is an Omorga Alonso son out of a Grangewood Knockout daughter.
Top price female went to the female champion Wroxall Dairymilk-Betty from CH Evans and Son, Wroxall, Warwickshire.
By Tiset Darwin she is out of a Lamhoj Supery daughter and sold in calf to Wroxhall Wallace for 3600gns to AJ Jones Raglan, Gwent.
Averages: 15 bulls, £4,103 (81% clearance).
