Newark Limousin sale tops at 8,500gns for a maiden heifer
NewarkLimousin sale set the highest price of the year so far for Limousin females,and saw a solid commercial demand for the bulls forward.
Settingthe pace at the sale was the female draft from the Heald family’s Coachhouseherd, Retford, Nottinghamshire.
Topcall of the day was 8,500gns for Coachhouse Hellebore, a February 2012-bornmaiden heifer by Overthwaite Crackerjack and out of Coachhouse Damson, aCoachhouse Virgil daughter. She sold to Charlie Boden for the Sportsmans herd,Cheshire.
Secondbest at 7,000gns was another from the Healds, Coachhouse Heidi. This one, aJanuary 2012-born maiden is by Mereside Daytona and out of Coachhouse Discreetand contains the legendary Sympa and Objat in her back pedigree. She also wenthome with Charlie Boden.
Followingthat at 6,000gns was Cockleshell Geri from Ian Pitcher. She is a Vivaldidaughter out of Cockleshell Unice, a Jockey daughter, and sold with a beefvalue of +35. January 2011-born and in-calf to Chytodden Conan, she found a newhome with Mark Whitlock, Coventry, for the Whitbred herd.
Andmaking 4,500gns was Brockhurst Fiona from Doug Mash’s draft. Sired by Suisse B,she is out Brockhurst Bolshoi, a Grahams Samson daughter, which was breedchampion at the Great Yorkshire Show in 2011. She was bought by Geoff Hadfield,Droylsden, Manchester, and is in calf to Brockhurst Ecuador.
Oneof last year’s big spenders in the breed, Monmouthshire-based Dai Walters wasthen in at the same money when buying Coachhouse Hazel, a February 2012-bornmaiden heifer. Sired by Mereside Daytona she is out of Coachhouse Cider, aHaltcliffe Picasso daughter.

Topping thebull trade on what was a commercially underpinned trade was a 7,500gns call forDinmore Genus from Paul Dawes, Herefordshire. This one, a Procters Duvalier sonout of Dinmore Venus, a Saunders Stallone daughter sold to Bowes Farms,Norfolk, with a beef value of +14.
Second best ofthe sale at 6,200gns was Lowgate Grant from Ian Brown, Spalding, Lincolnshire.Sired by Threaphurst Dynamo this one is out of the Goldies Oswald daughterLowgate Rosie. He sold to Messrs Scott and Scott, Rutland, with a beef value of+36.
Then making6,000gns and heading to Monmouthshire was Coachhouse Gregor from the Healdfamily when he sold to Dai Walters. This one is by Mereside Daytona and out ofCoachhouse Velvet, a Haltcliffe Picasso daughter.
At the samemoney a little later was Ironstone Godzilla from Smiths of Bloxham, Banbury.This son of 42,000gns sire Wilodge Vantastic is out of Unicite, an Omerdaughter and has a beef value of +33. He sold to local buyer Gascoine Farms,Yorkshire.
Also at 6,000gnswas Mereside Gravel from the Grantham-based Hazard family. He’s by 35,000gns PlumtreeDeus and is out of Mereside Expresso, a Bloomben daughter and sold to J and RSims Brothers, Derbyshire.
Paul Dawesthen sold at 5,500gns when Messrs Houlgrave bought Dinmore Gerald. Another by ProctersDuvalier he is out of Dinmore Brimrose, a Tonka daughter, and has a beef valueof +28.
