Newark Limousins sell to 6500gns top call
A top call of 6500gns and a string of healthy averages marked out the success of Saturday’s East Midland’s Club Limousin sale at Newark.
Taking the day’s top price was a bull from Brian Baker, Wealden Enoch. This April 2009-born Procters Borrins son is out of Wealden Ursula, a Malibu daughter and has a beef value of +29. He was knocked down to J and J Appleby, Louth.
Next best was a 6000gns bid for Coachhouse Edward from the Heald family. This one is by Bailea Ulsterman and out of Coachhouse Aylla, a Haltcliffe Hercules daughter. With two lines to Cannon this one has a beef value of +32 and went home with D Roberts, Holywell, North Wales.
Following that at 5800gns was the best of the day from long-distance vendor Brian Jones. This was Bailea Enzo, a Salomon son out of Bailea Vika, an Ocelot daughter. This May 2009-born bull went to the Gascoines group.
A 5000gns bid secured Gotham Elliott from M Davies. This one, again by Procters Borrins, is out of Gotham Ussette, a Gugusse daughter and has a beef value of +26. He was taken by Bowes Farms, Thetford.
The same buyer then paid 4500gns for Bailea Esteem from Brian Jones. He is a Salomon son out of Bailea Ourisia, a Greensons Gigolo daughter.
Making 4300gns was Baile Elvis. Again by Salomon, he is out of Bailea Sunflower, a Marron daughter and sold to Carpenters Hill, Redditch.
Trading just shy of that at 4000gns was senior bull Craigatoke Apache. This one, bred by Martin Conway and forward on the day from Paul Dawes, is a Haltcliffe Underwriter son out of Craigatoke Unique, a Malibu daughter. With a beef value of +25 he went to Bowes Farms.
At the same money was Wealden Envoy from Brian Baker. Another by Procters Borrins, this one is out of Wealden Valiche, a Grahams Samson daughter and sold with a beef value of +28 to Paul Bennett, Louth.
In the cows and calves a 4500gns bid for Mereside Atilla, an Obus daughter from Roger, James and Duncan Hazard, led the trade. This one is out of Mereside Mgreta and sold with her Haltcliffe Vermount sired heifer calf at foot. She went to W Smith, Grantham.
Following on at 3500gns was Gotham Diloire from M Davies. She is a Gotham Venture daughter out of Gotham Ojo, a Fanfan daughter. She sold to R Harris, Ashbourne, with her Ionesco sired heifer calf at foot.
Making 3300gns was another from the Hazards, Mereside Berth. Sired by Mereside Tobius, she is out of Mereside Liberty, a Mereside Crackerjack daughter and sold with her Millgate Caesar bull calf at foot. Buying her was H R Key and Son, Norwich.
A brace of 3000gns bid followed with the first for Wealden Venetia from Brian Baker. Sired by Grahams Samson, she is out of Wealden Symphony and sold with her bull calf at foot by Wealden Denman. Taking her home were R and S Knights, Diss. And the second at this money was Rempstone Dinkerbell. Bred by Helen Burton and consigned by D C Wharton, she is by Wilodge Topnotch and out of Bosworth Tinkerbell. With a Sympa heifer calf at foot she went to H Parker, Wiltshire.
Topping the heifers was Cockleshell Dizzy from Peter Pitcher. Sired by Ampertaine Abracadabra and out of Cockleshell Alycia, a Grahams Trooper daughter, she sold with a beef value of +36 and having run with Grahams Elliot. Taking her home at 3500gns were Richard and Judy Fountaine, Milton Keynes.
Then at 3300gns was Coachhouse Erin from the Healds. She is a Bailea Ulsterman daughter out of Lowabbey Mygirl, an MCM Goldcard daughter. She was bought by A Clark, Sheffield.
At 3200gns was Roseycombe Diva, a Parisien daughter from S J Timms. Out of Roseycombe Belle, a Ferry daughter she sold to J Stone, Grimsby, having run with Mereside BigMac.
A trio then collected 2800gns bids, with the first being Cockleshell Ellie from Peter Pitcher. She is a Winnington Trumps daughter out of Cockleshell Princess and sold with a beef value of +33 and having run with Grahams Elliott. Buyer here was R M Hardy, Stoke-On-Trent.
Second call at this money was made for Millstone Eclipse from John Oaks. This Ionesco daughter is out of Millstone Boutet and sold having been AI’d to Rocky. She went to Chris Clements, Bury-St-Edmunds.
Final bid at this price was made for Scorboro Ecru from Jim Bloom. She is a Scorboro Bigbang daughter out of Scorboro Velvet and sold to J Booth, Doncaster.
In the embryos on offer a ÂŁ900 bid secured a single embryo out of Newstart Upsydaisy for Nigel and Jane Matthews. This one will either be by Objat or Carmorn Copilot. Second best here was a ÂŁ400 bid from Jonathan Watson for embryos by Ronick Gains out of French cow Ile, a Tarvis daughter. And at the same money was the best of the semen, Wilodge Vantastic semen which was bought by Doug Mash.
Top call in the stores was a ÂŁ2000 bid for a heifer from Paul Dawes which sold to Heather Blythe, Norfolk, while a steer from the same home sold at ÂŁ1500 to R J Parker.
