New look Forager, new look egg boxes

You may have noticed that the Forager’s website has changed. It’s a new platform that, we’re assured, delivers a better performing blog: optimising all sorts of technical bits and streamlining others, creating a more user-led and dynamic experience.

Anyway. In honour of the new look, here’s some pictures of unusual egg boxes. It sounds silly, but when putting together May’s Poultry World – a marketing special – we looked at some different ways to present eggs.

First, an offering from Chris Capilla (www.chriscapilla.com), an American designer who came up with the interesting takes on egg storage below:

Next, some ideas from Marta Garbinska, who came up with these striking concept designs for egg boxes:

Huevos Elorza has a concept egg box that isn’t quite as outlandish, but still presents eggs in an unusual way:

Eszter KallĂł, a designer from Budapest, Hungary, has a simple but effective update on the standard box of six design:

We also have a morsel of wisdom from “packaging diva” JoAnn Hines, an American authority on all things packaging:

“The average consumer sees over 3,000 advertising massages a day. What can differentiate your product? The packaging of course. Colours, graphics and shapes can help consumers recognise your brand in a sea of sameness.

Unique or different compels a closer look at the product and that’s half the purchasing battle won. When standardised egg packing looks different, consumers will want to know more.”
