Nice legs – shame about the…..legs

Our tale of the double-vented chicken has created quite a stir, though as yet no one has come forward with a similarly afflicted chook.

But the Forager did hear of one chicken farmer recently who’d produced a broiler with four legs. Two of them were perfectly normal, fit for ambulation and generally scratching around. The other two, however, were more of a token gesture.

It seems this leggy bird had been living unnoticed in a flock of 24,000 standard birds in a shed in Norfolk for a number of weeks. It was only on the day that some supermarket buyers came to visit that it decided to emerge from the flock.

The farmer was apparently mortified as it waddled over to say hello. Quite how the supermarket buyers responded is unrecorded.
