Talking turkey

Like all good marketeers, Paul Kelly likes to throw in a few extras when he (or his minions) packs up a box with one of his famous Kelly Bronze Turkeys to dispatch to his customers.

As well as the  aromatic sprig of rosemary, the flavoursome giblets and the ever useful meat thermometer, there is also a little instruction manual with fail-safe cooking instructions and a number of post-Christmas recipe ideas.

But it doesn’t end there. Also included is a set of 12 place-name cards, and on the back of each is a “Did you know” turkey fact – just to ensure the product is talked about, as well as enjoyed.

turkeys.jpgFor example – did you know that wild turkeys can fly at speeds of up to 55mph, or that the world’s heaviest turkey was the size of a German Shepherd dog?

Did you know that turkeys had their feet tarred for the traditional “turkey trot” from Norfolk to London, or that only male turkeys “gobble”?

Next they’ll be telling us that turkey was the first meal eaten on the moon by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin!

Ah, apparently it was….
