Pylon Ayrshire cattle top at 4000gns
A scorching trade for red and white cattle saw seven bids over 3000gns and a top price of 4000gns at the dispersal of the leading Pylon Ayrshire herd at Beeston Castle, Cheshire.
Owners David and Jeanne Heasman moved their herd north from their home in East Sussex and pulled in a capacity crown who averaged the 95 cows and in-milk heifers at just under ÂŁ2000.
Top call of 4000gns came for the young cow Pylon Eurorail 5 who was due shortly with her second to Visserdale Stealth. This daughter of Carnell Bright Crown joins Duncan Hunter’s Haresfoot herd along with Pylon Elopes 4th – a second calver by Yellow Briar Journalist sold fresh at 3000gns.
Two Cumbria herds each took cattle at 3900gns. Grange-over-Sands milk producers Barton and Harrison bought the Ex-91 third calver Pylon Knotgrass 5th – a Pylon Atlantis daughter. An un-named Cumbria buyer matched the bid to claim Pylon Jarvanese 6th who is by Stretton Triple Prime and calves her second in October.
Another Atlantis daughter from the Gooney family made 3100gns. This fresh second calver joins the Haverfordwest based herd of Philip Williams. Also at 3100gns was a milking heifer from the Naomi family sired by Knutsford White Flash and joining Steve Bailey’s herd at Audlem, Cheshire.
In-calf heifers reached 2600gns for another Naomi entry by Pylon Nimbus. She also went to Barton and Harrison’s herd. Heading home with a full wagon was Chichester College, Sussex who bought 25 head.
Averages: 95 cows and heifers ÂŁ1977; 29 in-calf heifers ÂŁ1526; 11 recently served heifers ÂŁ754. (Wright Manley).
