Royal Highland Show 2014: Aberdeen Angus takes top beef honours

 

Taking this year’s interbreed beef championship was the 1,650kg Aberdeen Angus bull Rawburn Jester Eric from Mr Alistair Clark and Sons, Cumnock, Ayrshire. This one is by The Moss Beautiful Man D410 and out of Rawburn Joy Erica C213, bred by John Elliot, Roxburghshire.

In reserve was the Charolais breed champion. Messrs M Bruce and Partners’ female Balmaud Eclipse by Maerdy Amontillado and out of Balmaud Beauty.

Commenting on the interbreed champion, judge Ian Anderson said: “For an Aberdeen Angus, he is a perfect example of the breed and very well fleshed. And for his size, he walks effortlessly and has good movement.”

Commenting on the reserve, he added: “She is also a good example of her breed.”
