Sedgemoor dairy sale peaks at 2,450gns

Dairy trade topped at 2,450gns at Sedgemoor’s mid-Summer collective sale at the weekend (21 June).

Sale leader was the Miller family’s Moorshard Double Agent Fawn, Bridgwater, Somerset. This freshly calved heifer is sired by the homebred sire Moorshard Double Agent and is out of a Pine-Shelter Lennon Der daughter.
Next best at 2,200gns was Dorset Twister Fable 2nd from Diamond Farming, Sherborne, Dorset. Sired by Ginary Twister she if out of the Regancrest Tesk Danon daughter Dorset Danon Fable, who gave 12,967kgs in her last lactation at 4.215 butterfat and 3.11% protein.

Bulls
Bull trade peaked at 1,420gns for a September 2012 born Million son from John Young, Llanover, Abergavenny. Lanover Ample is out of a Picston Shottle dam from the Ashlyn family.
Heifers
Yearling heifers from Maundrils Farm, Highbridge, Somerset, sold to 900gns for daughters of O-Man End-Story.
Averages: calved cows and heifers, £1,828.16; bulls, £1,012.20; yearlings, £840; heifer calves, £426.
