Shorthorn bull takes East of England interbreed

The first of the interbreed championships today has gone the way of the cTS E OF E Shorthorn Champ web.jpghampion Shorthorn bull from Nick and Andrew Barrett, Glenariff Brave Bonnar. Bonnar took the junior interbreed championship here last year and was today praised by interbreed judge Jeff Thomas for being a bull that moves well for his age, is very stylish and well fleshed with a grea top and plates.

Bonnar is by Glenariff Washington and is out of glenariff Tulula Gina, one of the 60 pedigree cows the barrett family run.

TS E OF E Beef Champ web.jpgThe reserve interbreed championship was awarded to the Simmental champion from Giles Green, the two year old heifer Greenfields Wonder, a January 2008-born daughter of Balmano Hitman out of Hockenhull Rachel 13th.

The overall junior interbreed was dominated by Smiths of Bloxham. Their champion was the yearling heifer Ironstone Enchantress, a daughter of Wilodge Vantastic out of Eves Viola. The Smiths team then took the reserve championship with Ironstone Enrico, a a February 2009-born son of Wilodge vantastic out of the French cow Torpedo.
