Skipton dairy trade reaches £2140 peak

Prices at Skipton’s month’y dairy sale saw a top call of £2140 for a freshly calved heifer from Robert Lambert, Conistone. This one, which was champion in the pre-sale show, is a by a sire bred in the Aireburn herd and sold to John Howard, Heslaker.

A £2080 call secured a well-bred fresh calved heifer from Brian Moorhouse for T and M Green, Wigan. Then making £1860 was the reserve champion from the pre-sale show, a freshly calved cow from Robert Crisp, Calton. She also sold to Mr Howard.

And at £1720 was the second placed fresh calved heifer, another from Mr Crisp. This one sold to T and M Green.

Selling to Mr Howard at £1520 was the first prize in-calf heifer from Bryan Lawty, Driffield, a newcomer to the centre’s dairy ring.

Averages; fresh calved heifers £1602, fresh calved cows £1322, in-calf heifers £1182 (Craven Cattle Marts).
