Springsett dispersal sells to 11,500gns at Carlisle
Prices peaked at 11,000gns at the dispersal sale of D McBeath and SJ Jessop’s Springsett herd, Carlisle, which took place on the same day as the Limousin female sale (2 May).
Sale topper was the March 2011-born bull Hafodlas Garnedd, sired by Hafodlas Domino and out of the Cloughhead Royal daughter Hafodlas Violed. Bred by AH and GW Roberts, Dolgellau, Gwynedd, he was bought by Messrs White, Helston Cornwall.
Next best at 9,000gns was the Newhouse Aristocrat daughter Springsett Empress. She sold in calf to Hafodlas Garnedd and was purchased by CJ Roots, Kilnford Croft, Dumfries.
C Malone, Cardenden, Fife, gave 8,000gns for the four-year-old Springsett Faith. Sired by Culnagechan Condor she sold with her Hafodlas Garnedd sired heifer calf at foot.
A Morton, Denny, Stirlingshire, paid 5,500gns for the heifer Springsett Galaxy. Sired by Culnagechan Condor she if out of the Ronick One daughter Blairpark Utopia and also sold in-calf to Garnedd.
Averages: 16 cows served and/or suckling, £3,671.72; three served heifers, £3,115.00; two maiden heifers, £1,417.50; one stock bull, £11,550.00.
