Steady dairy trade sees prices top 1950gns

Despite varied quality of fresh cows and heifers at Harrison and Hetherington’s monthly pedigree dairy sale, trade was steady with prices topping at 1950gns.

 

First of a joint top price was a 2nd calf cow, Maridale Roger Dawn from Messrs M Ridsdale and Son and purchased by Newhouse Farms, Dumfries. Also at the same money was a smart heifer bred from five generations of VG or EX dams from the Wilson family, Skirwith Hall Farm and was one of several quality heifers bought by Messrs Reid, Fulton, Waterbeck.

 

Messrs Reid also purchased the second highest lot, a Ladino Park Talent Daughter from M W and J H Gaitskell, Highfield, Burgh-by-Sands. Boustead Talent Jean, out of Boustead Inquierer Jean was also reserve champion on the day.

 

Next in the money was another heifer forward from Skirwith Hall Farms, Stowbeck Pagewire Lilibet.  By Braedale Pagewire and out of Stowbeck Lucente Lilibet this one sold to J G Maxwell and Sons, Netherwood Farms, Glencaple for 1850gns.

 

A bid of 1800gns secured the next lot, Annandale Bolton DoetJE for Hewson Bros, Jerriestown, Carlisle. This Sandy-Valley Bolton daughter was forward from W Armour, Moffat.

 

 

A trio of bids at 1750gns saw the first lot through the ring, Maridale Saphire Olivia head home with A S and C E Coulthard, JusticeTown Farm, Weslinton. This one was forward from Messrs M Ridsdale and Son.

 

Next at 1750gns was a Ladino Park Talent daughter one of several cows and heifers forward from C Dent, Bridge End Farm. This one, Shirvindale Talent Jenny out of Shirvindale Jogger Jenny 3 headed home with H Smith and Sons, Barenight Hill, Mauchline.

 

Last to hit the 1750gns mark was Bankview Finley Bianca from J A H Walton and Son, Bank View, Kirby Stephen. By Opsal Finley and out of Bankview Lee Bianca this one headed home with N and S J Sanderson, Burtholme Farm, Lanercost.

 

Several more heifers from C Dent hit 1700gns, the first a R-E-W Buckeye daughter. This one, Bridge End Buckeye out of Lavenham Mitzi sold to A Carlyle, Longtown. Next was Shirvindale Jasper Jenny a Wilcoxview Jasper daughter, who sold to F and A L Kenyon, Southwick, Dumfries.

 

Another bid of 1700gns secured Annandale MS Gina for Hewson Bros. This one, out of Annandale Moviestar was forward by W Armour, Moffat.
