Stirling Aberdeen-Angus females reach 5000gns
One of Scotland’s leading property developers invested heavily in the Aberdeen-Angus breed at Stirling on Saturday, with William Roddie of Spectrum Properties buying nine cows and calves and two heifers for a combined total of £30,975 to found his new herd at Sauchieburn Estate, Stirling.
Taking the sale’s top call of 5000gns was 2002-born cow Varis Edwina,a Fordel Eisenhower daughter out of a Mushroom Friar Fergus daughter. This one from Alistair Grant, was the first of the top five priced lots bought by Mr Roddie.Then selling at 4000gns was Varis Pandora, a Cairnton Evelix daughter and out of a Lochdu Elfking daughter. Like the previous lot she sold with a heifer calf at foot by Varis Prediliction and in calf again to the same sire.Following on at 3800gns was five year old cow Varis Penelope, an Ankonian Elixir daughter out of an Elfking sired dam. She sold with a calf at foot by Varis Prediliction.
And making 3000gns was Varis Pelanne, another by Elixir and out of an Elfking dam. This sold with a Midtown Prospector sired calf at foot. Both went to Mr Roddie again.
Selling at 3000gns was the best of the sale from Lauranne Grant’s Lingieston herd, Lingieston Princess Marion, a six year old cow by BCC Eileenmere Lad and out of a dam by Elfking. She sold with a heifer at foot by Prediliction. She also went to Mr Roddie.
After that at 2800gns was Varis Panache, a fiver year old cow by Cairnton Evelix, this one went to Messrs Campbell, Thrunton.
At the same price was the best of the day from the Wedderlie consignment, Wedderlie Katco, a seven year old daughter of Cudlobe Fortune out of a dam by Lord Horatio of Blelack. She sold to Alex and Linda Wilson, Beith, Ayrshire.
