Stirling Bull Sales 2012: Charolais sale look forward

Just has a wander round the show ring at the start of the Charolais judging to get a feel of what might sell well.

It’s obviously early days in terms of stock coming through the ring, but a few people have mentioned that the favourite has failed the vet inspection.

Lot 720, Elgin Glenlivet is an Elgin Davinci son, out of Corrie Debbie and has a TSI and SRI of +53. Glenlivet from Mr R A Milne, Kennies Hillock, Elgin, has been unbeaten in his class in 2012 and was winner of the Beefbreeder championship at the Royal Highland Show.

I’ve also seen there’s a full brother to the 70,000gns bull, Barnsford Ferny that sold at this time last year. Tom and Sheena Gatherer will be selling Barnsford Gorse which is by Balmyle Bollinger and out of Alwent Broom at the sale tomorrow. He has a TSI of +35 and a SRI of +41, this compares to +39 and +44 for his full brother, Ferny.

Time will tell whether he makes similar money…..
