STIRLING BULL SALES 2015: Goldies herd leads Lim trade at 13,500gns

Dumfriesshire breeder Bruce Goldie, Townfoot, Mouswald, topped Limousin trade on the opening day of Stirling Bull Sales (Monday 19th October).

His reserve junior champion Goldies Jogger commanded a top price of 13,500gns from J and P Carr Farms, near Peacehaven, East Sussex.

By Ampertaine Foreman, he is out of the prolific Goldies Vitality whose progeny includes the noted 23,000gns Goldies Comet.

Next best at 8,500gns was Spittalton Jed from local breeder Andrew Burnett, Upper Spittalton, Blair Drummond, Stirling.  This first prize bull, born May 2014, is by the Objat son Dinmore Hitman and is out of Spittalton Flourish. Buyer was Walter Dandie and Sons, Learielaw Farm, Broxburn, West Lothian. The Spittalton herd sold three further bulls on the day to gross a further 11,000gns.

At the same money was the very next lot into the ring, Allanfauld Jumper from Archie MacGregor, Allanfauld, Kilsyth, Glasgow.  Jumper, who carries a Beef Value of LM+40, is a Haltcliffe Underwriter son and is out of Allanfauld Fleure. The May 2014 born bull was snapped up by WF and H Logan, Girvan, Ayrshire.

Picking up the fourth top price of 7,200gns was Ian Nimmo, Newmains, Wishaw, with his first prize bull Maraiscote Jura, an April 2014 born calf. By the herd’s prolific sire Goldies Comet, Jura is out of the Tyddn Mei daughter Maraiscote Pamela. Buying Maraiscote Jura was A and H Sim and Son, Monymusk, Inverurie.

The supreme champion Maraiscote Javelin, an April 2014 born son of Virginia Andy and out of Maraiscote Fabiella, went unsold through the ring at 7,800gns.

19102015 Lot 446

Black coated bulls were headed at 7,000gns by McLarens Black Jack from Messrs McLaren, Muirhouses, Kirriemuir. Sired by Normans Gamin and out of the Tamarvalley Boscastle daughter McLarens Goddess, this second prize bull headed to Orkney with G and J Gray, Sandwick, Stromness.

Next up at 6,000gns was the reserve senior champion, Ronick Jimmy, from the 200 strong pedigree herd of Mr R Dick, Mains of Throsk, Stirling. Sired by the 17,000gns stock bull Rathconville Eugene, and out of Ronick Emily the herd’s 2015 show cow, the February 2014 born Ronick Jimmy was knocked down to R Templeton, Newton Stewart, Dumfriesshire.

Three more bulls made 6,000gns.

First of these was Lodge Josh from Ian and Wendy Callion, Bolfornought Farm, Stirling. This February 2014 born bull is by the noted AI sire Wilodge Tonka and is out of the Ronick Luke sired Lodge Plush. He went north with GM Swanson, Castletown, Caithness.

The day’s junior champion Elrick Jackal from Michael Massie, Auchnagatt, Ellon, was snapped up by Messrs Bell. Jackal is by the Haltcliffe Underwriter son Craigatoke Dundee who has had sons sell to 12,500gns.

The final one at this price was Powerful Judge from Archie MacGregor.  This third prize bull was bred by Philip Crowe, Co Cavan, Ireland.  April 2014 born he is by the Sympa son Haltcliffe Dancer and is out of Liscarn Fantastic, a Vantastic daughter. He headed to Orkney with J and R Stanger, Sandwick, Orkney.
