Stirling Charolais trade hits 7200gns top call
Top call at last Saturday’s sale of Charolais from Murray Lyle and Duncan MacGregor at Stirling was a 7200gns bid for Clanabogan Charlie from Murray Lyle. This is a son of Doonally New and out of Clanabogan Tiffany, a Moorlough Palo daughter. He sold to D M Smith, Shandscross, Turriff.
Second best was the top female call of the day, a 6500gns sale for Corrie Candice from Duncan MacGregor. This is a February 2007-born Moelfre Torpedo daughter out of Corrie Udelle, a Mortimers Roselier daughter. She sold with an Allanfauld Vagabond calf at foot and in-calf again and was bought by Messrs Baillie, Tankerness, Orkney.
Following that at 5500gns was the best female sale from Loganbar, when Loganbar Bounty sold to Gilbert Crawford for the Coolnaslee herd. She is by Caithness Torpedo and out of Ragdale Sacha, a Ragadale Hail daughter and sold with a November 2009-born heifer calf at foot.
Then making 5200gns was another from Murray Lyle, Loganbar Abba, an October 2005-born Billingley Robocop daughter out of Loganbar Sylvia, a Brailes Juggernaught daughter. Selling with a July-born heifer calf at foot she went to M Thomson, Shetland.
A brace then sold at 5000gns, the first being Loganbar Adelaide. This Loganbar Romeo daughter out of Ragdale Manda, another Ragdale Hail daughter. She is scanned in calf to calf in December/January and last calved in December 2008. Buyer of this one was Gilbert Crawford.
The second to make this money was Corrie Uma, a Mortimers Roselier daughter out of Corrie Renata, a Simpsons Greg daughter. She sold with an April-born heifer calf at foot and was bought by J and A Fleming, Old Kirkpatrick, Glasgow.
Making 4800gns was Corrie Barbara, an Oldstone Egbert daughter out of Corrie Lisa, a Corrie Highlander daughter. Sold having been flushed and free of the bull she went to Messrs Wight, Biggar.
Also making this money was an ET bred calf Corrie Fergal. This is an April-born son of Elgin Davinci out of Corrie Agnes, an Oldstone Egbert daughter. Buyer of this one which sold on its recipient dam, an Ayrshire cow, was Stuart Barclay, Aberdeenshire.
And a final 4800gns bid was made for Corrie Debbie, an April 2008-born heifer by Harestone Tadorne out of Cyglen Maryanne, a Farleycopse Turbo daughter. She sold to Messrs Milne.
