Store cattle sell to £1,105 at Knighton

A wonderful show of 532 store cattle, and run of cows and calves at Knighton sold to £1,520 for a Limousin heifer and Limousin cross heifer calf from E and T Powell, Gwernyrarglwllwydd.

 

Store bulls met a strong trade and averaged 243.19ppk and £1,105 a head, selling up to 259ppk for two 455 kilo Charolais cross bulls to £1,180 from JL and KH Nixon and Sons, Cefn Penarth. Top price a head was £1,300 for a Blonde d’Aquitaine cross Bull (535kg) from IL and AJ Powell, Lower Cwmadalfa, and also to £1,300 for a 560kg Charolais Bull from PR Price and Son, Llanshay.

 

Store steers averaged 225.66ppk and £959 a head, selling to 409ppk for a Blue cross Limousin steer (410kg) to £1,680 from TM and EE Williams, Nantygeifr.

 

At £1,560 was a 620kilo Charolais steer from RGT and MA Powell, Caebanol. Also to 320ppk for a 400kilo Blue X Limousin steer to £1,280 was TM and EE Williams.

 

Heifers averaged 209.74ppk and £857 a head, selling to 297ppk for four Limousin cross heifers (360kg) to £1,070 from HG and IW Rees, Faidrefach.
