Strathisla Suffolk reduction sells to 12,000gns
Trade at Robbie Wilson’s reduction sale from his Strathisla Suffolk flock at Stirling on Saturday was brisk, with the sale hitting a top call of 12,000gns.
Sale leader (centre of the picture) was a January 2005-born embryo bred ewe by Strathisla Kingsway. This one, FNV F26, is out of a dam, FNV X48, by Glenisla Godfather which goes back to Muiresk McKelvey. She sold in lamb to Glenhead Golden Phoenix and was dam of Strathisla Sea Bird, this year’s Edinburgh sale champion which sold for 10,000gns and Strathisla Shadrach, a £20,000 sale. She was snapped up by Gary Beacom, Co Fermanagh.
Next best at 8500gns (left of the picture) was another embryo bred ewe bred exactly the same way. Also a 2005-born ewe, this one again sold in lamb to Golden Phoenix and is dam to £4500 tup Strathisla Soldier of Fortune. Like the 12,000gns ewe she is ET sister to 45,000gns sire Strathisla Dead Lucky. She also sold to Mr Beacom.
And at 5500gns (right of the picture) was a shearling ewe by Strathisla Schumacher and out of a daughter of X48. This was also AI’d to Golden Phoenix and joined the Northern Irish contingent, heading to Alfred and Norman Robinson, Downpatrick.
Selling at 4800gns was another shearling ewe, FNV K94. This is a Schumacher daughter out of a dam by Glenho Gurka. This one’s great grandam is full sister to 14,000gns sire Strathisla Kingsway and sold in lamb to Golden Phoenix to Bill Borthwick, Ayrshire.
Another shearling ewe, this time by Glenho Gurka himself sold at 2200gns to Ross Lawrence, Devon. She’s out of a dam by Glenhead the McCoy and was carrying lambs to Sea Bird.
This was followed at 2000gns by another of the shearlings, a Strathisla Speed daughter out of a dam by Glenho Gurka. Once again in lamb to Golden Phoenix she sold to the Machray family, Inverurie.
Making 1800gns was an ET bred sister to 48,000gns sire Strathisla Dylan Thomas. By Schumacher and out of a dam by Glenhead the McCoy, this traded in lamb to Golden Phoenix to Lee Duns, Ross-shire. (United Auctions).
