Strong opening store lamb trade at Lazonby

A strong entry of 520 lambs were forward for the opening sale of store lambs at  Harrison and Hetherington’s Lazonby Mart.

A large company of buyers were also present, ensuring trade was buoyant throughout.  All vendors left delighted with the trade with many reporting a rise on the year. Topping the sale at £74.50 was a pen of Texel lambs shown by Messrs Athey of High Lovelady Shield, who also had pens selling to £73 and to £69 for Suffolk lambs.

Mule lambs were said to be dearer than recent sales, topping at £58.50 for a consignment from Messrs Hodgson of Ingledene Farm.
