Strong stock forward at Ruthin Easter sale

The Ruthin Farmers Auction Easter Prize Sale saw some excellent quality stock forward depsite difficult weather conditions, and there was a good demand on all classes of stock.

The cattle section was judged by Dafydd Roberts of J H Jones Butchers, Vale Street, Denbigh and awarded the show champion to a heifer from T and E Jones, Bodychain Uchaf, Caernarfon which later realised 268p a kilo and was bought by the judge. The second prize heifer was exhibited by G W, H L L and D W Roberts, Cil Llwyn, Bontuchel and sold for 269p a kilo to J T Johnson, Rose Farm, Tarporley.

The bullock class was won by G Rowlands, Tyn y Fedw, Bala which later sold for 273p a kilo to Jones Bros, Stansy, Wrexham and second prize went to D Roberts, Tyddyn Uchaf, Abergele which sold for 259p a kilo.

The lamb classes were judged by Wyn Ellis, Llansannan who awarded the Champion exhibit to a 39kg lamb from E Lloyd and Co, Garthiaen, Llandrillo which later sold for £158 to G Morris for E and T Jackson, Cheshire.

1st – J P Williams, Bron Eyarth, Ruthin sold for £138 to D Griffiths, Shropshire

2nd – D G L Owens, Awelfryn, Denbigh sold for £118 to G Morris for E and T Jackson, Tabley, Knutsford.

1st – E Lloyd and Co, Garthiaen, Llandrillo sold for £158 to G Morris for E and T Jackson, Cheshire 2nd – R W Owen, Geirn, Llanerchymedd sold for £134 to P Smith for Euro Quality Lambs, Craven Arms

1st – T E Evans, Ty Coch, Llangynhafal sold for £105 to Van-Veen, Netherlands

2nd – I M Roberts & Son, Ty Mawr, Tremeirchion sold for £118 fo Glyn Davies of J Williams & Co Butcher, Denbigh

1st – Mrs E M Roberts, Glan Gors, Llannefydd sold for £128 to G Morris for E & T Jackson,

2nd – RW&RB Davies, Hafod y Bryn, Llandyrnog sold for £120 to Richard Edwards, Llanfaircaereinion
