Strong store cattle and store lamb trade at Knighton
The Autumn Prize Show and Sale of Store Cattle and Third Autumn Prize Show and Sale of Store Lambs at Knighton Market, Powys, saw a strong trade with mixed lambs topping at ÂŁ69.50 a head and store steers to 252p/kg.
Taking the top call in the mixed lambs was a pen of Suffolk X lambs from J T & A E Williams, Yew Tree.
Next best was ÂŁ68 a head for Texel X mixed lambs from W M E Davies, Lower Splashes and Charollais X mixed lambs from L Thomas,
An outstanding store cattle trade, then saw store steers averaging 203.93 p/kg and ÂŁ976.10 a head selling to 252p/kg for a 420 kilo Limousin X steer to ÂŁ1,060 from H G & I W Rees, Faidrefach.
Then at 237p/kg was a 410kg Limousin X steer to ÂŁ970 from the same vendor. 235p/kg for a 465kg Limousin X steer to ÂŁ1,095 and 234p/kg for four 455kg Limousin X steers to ÂŁ1,065 a head from D E Evans, Field Farm.
Top price a head was ÂŁ1,360 for a 795kg Charolais X steer from T A Swancott & Son, The Lawn.
Store heifers averaged 186.06p/kg and ÂŁ839.94 a head, selling to 239p/kg for a 370kg Limousin X heifer to ÂŁ885 from R T Davies, Teme Cottage.
