Suffolk ram lamb tops 2,800gns at Carlisle

Carlisle & Northern Counties Society Show and Sale of Suffolks on Friday (10 August) saw a top price of 2,800gns achieved for a ram lamb.

Taking the top price was the male and supreme champion, a twin from  John A Gibb’s Cairnton flock.  KLF:12:025 is by Thurston Grand Diamond and out of a dam by Roundacre Rockstar.  He was snapped up by R Larwence, Netherleigh, Iddesleigh, Winkleigh, Devon.
Following suit, not far behind the top price, was a twin ram lamb from Mark Evans, Tower Gate Farm, West Yorkshire.  Y31:12:070 is by Strathisla Seville and out of a dam by Everton Forever, which bred a ewe lamb to 1,050gns at Carlisle in 2009.  The buyer was R Gray, Langside Farm, Lanark.
Other leading prices included 1,800gns  for a Januray 2011 born shearling ram from Hazel M Martindale’s Landale flock, Dumfries and Galloway.  This one, Landale Bombardier, is by Landale Black Magic and out of a dam by Cairness Rossi.  The buyer was I Spedding, Harelaw Farm, Co. Durham.
