Suffolks secure 95% clearance rate at Abergavenny

A packed ringside and telephone bids from Holland and Belgium guaranteed a 95% clearance rate at the 32nd Annual Show & Sale of Suffolk inlamb ewes at Abergavenny Market.

 

Taking the top price on the day, and the title of show champion, was a shearling ewe from Mr & Mrs John Pryce, Meifod.  This one is sired by Stockton Trojan, and sold for 1,200gns to D Morgan, Aberystwyth.

The first prize ewe lamb, and reserve champion on the day, selected by judge Andrew Evans, Caersws, was put forward by Mike Davies & Sons, Brecon.  This one  is from the Davies’ Safaddan Flock and was sired by Strathisla Stoner.  It sold for 500gns to M Legge, Isle of Wight.

Other top prices on the day included a shearling ewe by Glenhead Golden Wonder and inlamb to Stockton Cruz.  This one was put forward by G Biddulph, Pexhill, and sold for 700gns to P Margham, Isle of Wight.

 

Meanwhile, a pen of sheep from local breeders R B & G M Morgan, Usk, sold to 610gns for a three-year-old ewe by Conveth Rock On.  This one goes to a new home with F B & B G Goodell, Llandovery.  And  a shearling ewe from Allison Tyrrell, Gower, Swansea, sold for 570gns to P Margham, Isle of Wight.
