Suffolks sell to 1,350gns at Abergavenny

A Suffolk ewe lamb from W H Sinnett and Sons, Stockton, Worcs, stood overall champion at Abergavenny’s Annual Show and Sale under Judge Gary Owen, Anglesey.

1ST EWE LAMB & OVERALL CHAMPION - LOT 92

The lamb by Stockton Percy T went on to top the sale when he sold at 1,350gns to P Rycraft, Farnham, Surrey.

 

Next best at 720gns was for the third prize ewe from Mike Davies and Sons, Safaddan. This one by Strathisla Beijing was taken by J Roland Williams, Aberystwyth.

 

North Wales Breeder Myfyr Evans sold a shearling ewe at 650gns by Rhaeadr Blockbuster to E Hughes, Lampeter, Ceredigion.

 

Mike Davies and Sons sold another at 600gns, this time a ewe lamb by Strathisla Stoner. She was purchased by D Morgan, Aberystwyth.

 

Geoff Biddulph, Pexhill, sold to a top of 600gns for his second prize shearling ewe by Pexhill Real Lucky which was purchased by A Spooner, Leek, Staffs.  T C and C A Harding, Bentley, sold to a top of 500gns for their second prize ewe by Cairness Impact. This one was purchased by J Roland Williams.

 

The Sale also included the Dispersal of the long established Wrekin Flock on behalf of L C Davies and Son.  The sale attracted considerable interest and support with buyers in attendance from all parts of the country.

 

The ewes sold to a top price of 490gns fro a 2010 born offering by Tomcroft Big Boy, purchased by A & D Callan, Haverfordwest. Another by the Tomcroft ram made 360gns and was taken by I E & J Evans, Llanilar, Aberystwyth.

 

Averages: 46 flock ewes,  £296.28; 39 shearling ewes,  £316.08;  22 ewe lambs,  £334.57.
