Stirling: Limousins level at £5,749 with 90% clearance

Limousin breeders were enthused by strong commercial demand and a larger entry of bulls at Stirling on Monday 7 February, where trading was back to pre-Covid-19 levels.

There were 19 more bulls sold on the year, although averages slipped slightly despite a stronger top price, which was achieved by a Burnbank bull.

Burnbank Rockstar from D and L Graham, Stirling, topped the sale at 14,000gns. The April 2020-born Redpaths Nobleman son is out of Burnbank Issy.

Rockstar has a double F94L myostatin and a beef value that puts him in the top 10% of the breed. He went home with Huntlyhill Farms, Lanark.

Next, at 10,000gns, was Elrick Roosevelt from M Massie, Mains of Elrick, Aberdeenshire. He sold to commercial buyers R and J Temple, Wyliehole Farm, Dumfries.

Roosevelt carries the F94L/Q204X myostatin gene and is in the top 2% of the breed.

The MacGregors of Dyke Farm, Glasgow then sold Dyke Robroy for 9,000gns. The double F94L bull is by the Goldies Fantastic son Goldies Lordoftherings, which was bought at Stirling for 12,000gns in 2017.

He went home with Matthew Jack, Carriston, Fife. Robroy is a full brother to the 8,200gns Pacman and out of the Dyke Iona daughter Mull.

Goldies Rolex, from Bruce Goldie, Townsfoot, Dumfries, was one to watch, at 8,500gns He is by the 45,000gns Ampertaine Jamboree and out of Goldie Fragrance.

Rolex has a F94L/Q204X gene and is a full brother to Neymar, which made 25,000gns at Carlisle in May 2019. He caught the eye of West Kinloch Farm, Blairgowrie, Perth.

The Ronick herd of R Dick, Mains of Throsk Farm, Stirling, topped at 8,000gns. He is another Jamboree son, which was bought by the herd in 2015.

He is out of the Rathconville Eugene daughter Ronick Marriet and headed south with NAM and S Trotter, Houselaw Farm, Roxburghshire.

The Goldies herd was back in the money selling the junior champion Goldies Rambler for 8,000gns. He is from a home-bred line of Goldies Nimble and Goldies Juggler, going back to Ampertaine Gigolo and out of the Ampertaine Bravo daughter Goldies Dame.

He was knocked down to R and A Stodart, Mill of Inverarity, Forfar.
