Texel females reach 920gns at Worcester
Saturday’s Christmas Present sale of in-lamb Texel females at Worcester saw a healthy demand for strong females, with 96% of the sheep offered finding new homes.
Leading the trade at 920gns was an in-lamb gimmer from the Chave family’s Peacehay flock, Somerset. This one, CFP1200127, is a Cennen Magnum daughter out of a dam by Lyonshall King of Clubs and sold in-lamb to Sheeoch Tardis. She was bought by D and S Lovatt, Chipping Norton, Oxon.
Second best of the sale came from the same home. CFP1200212, sold at 750gns to T S Hyslop, Crewkerne, Somerset. This one is a Fachell Outlook daughter out of a dam by Douganhill Lonestar and sold in-lamb to Caebetran Trojan.
Then making 700gns was another Peacehay gimmer similarly bred to the last. Again by Outlook, this one, CFP1200206, is out of a Lonestar daughter and was also in-lamb to Trojan. She found a new home with A P James, Bridgnorth, Somerset.
The next best call of 500gns was made three times, with the first at this level being the first of the day from the Quick family, Devon. Their leader, QEL1201696, is by Loosebeare Rebel and out of a dam by Fordafourie Power Packer. She sold in-lamb to Loosebeare Show Stopper and was knocked down to David and Thomas Bradley Farmer, Hampshire.
Taking the sales second call at 500gns was another of the Quicks’ gimmers, QEL1201849. This Clun Professor daughter is out of a Gaitsgill Officer daughter and sold in-lamb to Whitehart Taylor Made. She also heads to Hampshire with Messrs Bradley-Farmer.
A third and final 500gns bid came for a gimmer from the Bennett family’s dispersal of their Penberlan flock held on the same day. Their leader, BAP1200137 is by Loosebeare Percy and out of a dam by Tynewydd Morgan. In-lamb to Blaencar Top Gun she joins the Loosebeare flock of Messrs Quick.
