Thainstone Spectacular hits £4200 top
Wednesday’s Thainstone Spectacular Show saw a top price of £4200 paid for the junior heifer champion, an April-born 244kg Limousin cross from Andrew Anderson, Smallburn Farms, Plewlands, Duffus, Elgin. She sold to Donald Morrison, Kinlochbervie.Selling at £3800 was the steer and overall champion from the pre-sale show, 429kg Limousin cross Mud Wrestler from the Wilson family, Wester Cairnglass, Ardersier, Inverness. This one has been supreme at Turriff show earlier in the summer and sold to Aileen Ritchie, Tamala, Whitecairns.
At the same money was the junior champion and best junior steer Roanan, a March-born 298kg Limousin cross from George Macarthur and his sons David and Neil, Mid Fleenas. He went to Michael Alford, Somerset.
And also at £3800 was the reserve senior heifer champion, a year-old Limousin cross Dee-lite from father and son George and Don Anderson, Brucewells, Netherley, Stonehaven, which had been champion at Echt, overall champion at Tarland and reserve cross cattle champion at Turriff. It sold for Elfed Williams, Sennybridge, Brecon.
Selling at £2800 was the reserve senior steer, a 426kg October 2010-born Limousin cross from Andrew Anderson. This went to Vicky Bowring, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
In at £2300 was the reserve overall and heifer champion Flaming Nora, a 500kg Limousin cross from James and Mark Munro, Invercharron, Ardgay. This one was knocked down to Paul Barwood and Anita Padfield, Grange Farm, Fleggburgh, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
Averages; 43 heifers £1624.65, 47 steers £1314.04 (Aberdeen and Northern Marts).
