Twyning Ash bulls top at 6800gns in Chelford
TB movement restrictions may havestopped Richard and Julia Carter from exhibiting British Blue bulls from their TwyningAsh herd at the society sale in March, but they made up for it by selling theirstring at Chelford this week by topping trade at 6800gns.
Sale leader was the April 2007born Twyning Ash Corporal, the first son of Twyning Ash Worcester to be sold. Outof Twyning Ash Amelia, an Elite daughter, Corporal is a powerful black andwhite bull with terrific conformation and joins the Bockleton Blues herdbelonging to Ian and Jim Phillips.
Foxley, Norfolk-based Paul Davieswent to 5300gns to secure Twyning Ash Berkeley a son of the Freshman siredTwyning Ash Trent and out of the Savant De Pierrecome sired Twyning Ash Renee,while at 5000gns, Twyning Ash Chazz, another Troy son went home to Brill,Buckinghamshire with Peter Morris.
A selection of young heifers fromMessrs Baldwins, Gloucestershire, met a more selective trade with a relativelystronger demand for the younger heifers forward. A top price of
1900gns was paid for White FarmCinderella, by the home bred bull Waylord out of the Hazelwood Oscar siredBassibones Titania. She returned to Gloucester with David Awre, Newnham. WhiteFarm Cardamon, another Waylord daughter this time out of the Galopeur siredAstbury Satin made 1850gns to George Proctor Bignall End, Stoke on Trent.
The sale also featured a selectionof Continental cross suckler cows with British Blue cross calves at foot fromMessrs Carter. The cows, all heavily back in calf to either a British Blue orLimousin, were offered separately and made up to ÂŁ1350 for an April 2004 born soldseven months in calf to Twyning Ash Admiral.
