Vibrant ringside secures rise of £4 a head on the year for stores at Broughton

At Broughton Market Harrison & Hetherington held their annual show and sale of suckled calves and store cattle.

A catalogued entry of 292 cattle were forward, with a good turnout for judge Mr Jeff Birkbeck, Kirkby Stephen, to examine in the pre-sale show. He presented the Championship ticket to the Steer Champion, a Limousin from Messrs R and D Holland which later sold for £890.

A vibrant ringside ensured a solid trade throughout, with the overall sale average showing a slight rise of £4 a head on the year.
