Well-fleshed sheep in high demand at Kirkby

Kirkby Stephen Mart held their weekly sale of prime andcast sheep on Tuesday night.

Toppingthe sale at £113.80 (291.8p/kg) was a Dutch Texel lamb from Mr Kevin Sowerby,Terry’s Farm, which was purchased by Dowding’s Butchers, Appleby.

Anywell-fleshed sheep were in demand and sold to a good trade. Prime Hoggs sold toa top of £107.80, for a Texel from Low Whinhowe. Second best was a Suffolk fromOld Hall Farm, which made £106.30.
