Welsh Black Females in demand at Dolgellau
Welsh Black females met a ready demand at Dolgellau last week with the in-calf heifers, which represented more than half the catalogued entry, averaging ÂŁ1157/head.
Hafodescob Molly 99, a two and half year old maiden heifer bred and sold by Gwenfair Jones and Sons topped the trade, making 3800gns when selling to Aled Thomas, Tyn Ion, Anglesey.
Among the in-calf entry the best price was a 3000gns call for another from the Jones family, Hafodescob Candy 13. This one was bought by Messrs B and L Pritchard, Marianglas, Anglesey.
Another from the Jones, Hafodescob Molly 97 was next top, making 2400gns to Lleyn Leisure and Rural Services, Pwllheli, Gwynedd.
Best price among the bulls was a 2100gns bid for Gelynin Dafydd 2 from huw Thomas Jones, Llwyngwil, Gwynedd. Buyer of this one was Eurwyn Edwards, Coleg Glyn Llifon, Caernarfon.
