Welsh Blacks hit 4600gns twice at Dolgellau

A pair of 4600gns sales marked the highspot in bidding at at the Welsh Black Cattle Society’s spring show and sale at Dolgellau.

Taking the first call at this level was the champion from the pre-sale show Bro-waen Erddyn 4 from Alwyn Morris, Gwynedd. By Gwern-Cynyddion Cai and out of Nant Mai 3 he sold to William Davies, Tywyn, Gwynedd.

The other transaction at this value came when Elwyn Pryce Evans sold Gerddi Cyfhebog 63. This one is a Cynon Carwyn son and out of Gerddi Rhianfa 2 and sold to to Thomas Brothers, Rhiwlas, Oswestry.

Then at 4200gns was Gwern-Cynyddion Erddyn 24. Bred by Robert John Evans, Llanbedr, Gwynedd. This one, by Bro-waen Erddyn and out of Gwern-Cynyddion Elen, had stood reserve champion in the pre-sale show and sold to Marshall Farms, Luxburogh, Somerset.

And taking a 4000gns bid was Rowland Rees when he sold Brysgaga Hebog 54 to Idris Roberts, Ysbyty Ifan, Betws y coed. This one is by Neuadd Hebog 151 and out of Brysgaga Hedydd 4.

In the female section the top bid of 1850gns came for Gerddi-Bluog Ann from Jessica Angharad Evans. Having taken the top ticket in the maiden heifers this one, by Brysgaga Erddyn 42 and out of Gerddi Ann 10, sold to C E and M L Jones, Trawsfynnydd, Gwynedd.
