Western Holstein sale sells to 3,000gns
The Western Holstein Club’s Monthly Show and Sale of calved cows and heifers attracted a small entry of good quality cattle for its end of January Sale.
Almost 100% clearance was seen with a top price of 3,000gns realised for Riverdane Fever Amy consigned jointly by Riverdane Holsteins of Middlewich and John Barker of Leicestershire. This daughter of Crackholm Fever has eight generations of VG/Ex dams and is out of the noted 14,000kg Sunnylodge Skychief Amy who in her career won many championships as well as having already bred a dozen daughters classified in the top two grades. The buyer was Tom Lomas of Faddiley, Nantwich.
Two heifers made 2,600gns each; the first was Fieldside Torch 185th a Cogent Twist daughter from Harry Jolly and the second was Dalebank Inez 256th, a Shottle daughter from David Rees Farms of Nantwich both being purchased by Spotacre Farms, Stone, Staffordshire.
A small entry of bulls saw prices rise to 1,400gns for Aintree Knight, a son of Gillette Stanleycup from the Kimo family also purchased by Spotacre Farms.
