Western Holsteins reach 2900gns peak at Beeston Castle
Last week’s sale of Holsteins for the Western Holstein Club at Beeston Castle saw trade hit a high of 2900gns for the champion heifer from the pre-sale show, Dunnerdale Roumare Linda from Wilson Boow and family, Egremont. This Roumare daughter is out of a GP83 classified dam which is in turn by champion. She sold to Adrian Jones, Garthmyl, Powys.
A pair then sold at the next best call of 2400gns, with the first to make this money Hully Krielstra Bang 112 from Rob Barnett. This one, sold giving 41kg a day is by Willems Krielstra and bred from seven generations of Ex or VG dams. She went to Richard Williams, Betley.
The second at this price was the reserve champion from the pre-sale show, Edwern Kendall Blackie from Enchanted Holsteins, Preston. This is a daughter of Alpag Juror Kendall and sold giving 36kg a day, she also headed to Mr Williams’ commercial herd.
Selling at 2300gns was Danevalley Spirte Anita from A L Moore and Partners, this Cedarwal Spirte daughter is out of a Threelimes Debonair-sired dam and sold to R Ward, Market Drayton.
Then three sold at 2250gns, with the first being Budworth BamBam Gloria from T I Shepherd. She is by Braedale BamBam and out of a Comestar Outside daughter. She sold to H W Evans, Oswestry.
Second transaction at this level came when E J Daniels and Son sold Mansongreen Garry Orchid 17, a daughter of homebred bull Mansongreen Garry. She is out of an Aquila Patron Lucente daughter and sold to D A Gray, Leighton Buzzard.
And the final 2250gns sale came when Wilson Boow sold Dunnerdale Burns Delen, a Mr Burns daughter out of a Comestar Lheros-sired dam. She went home with R Ward.
Averages; 24 cows ÂŁ1372.88, 110 calved heifers ÂŁ1718.28, six bulls ÂŁ1085 (Wright Manley).
