Woodview British Blues hit 5000gns twice

It has been a hectic few days of sales across the UK, so I’ll endeavour to bring you all the reports I can today, including a full report from the Dungannon Texel sale, reports from Andrew and Becky Bixhop’s Blue Texel dispersal and the Meon Hill Texel sale, as well as updates from the Omagh Simmental and Greenwell Limousin sales.

But first here is an early report from Andrew Craig’s Woodview British Blue production sale at Moira on Saturday.

Leading the sale of maiden heifers was a brace of 5000gns bids. The first of these top prices was paid for Woodview Dainty, an ET bred June 2008-born heifer by Empire D’Ochain and out of Woodview Alice, a Ridge Dean Physical daughter. She sold with a carcass yield index of +27 and a pedigree index of +20.

At the same money was the last heifer in the sale, black heifer Woodview Donna, another ET bred heifer. This June 2008-born Dafydd D’Ochain daughter is out of Woodview Whitney an Affute Du Ry Ossogne, daughter.

Following that at 4200gns was Woodview Dixie, an August 2008-born Ballygrange Alex daughter out of Woodview Witchy, an Affute Du Ry Ossogne daughter. She sold with a carcass yield index of +16.

A trio then traded at 4000gns. First to take this bid was Woodview Elana, another ET bred Alex daughter. Born in July 2009 this is a Woodview Black Beauty daughter, herself a Dafydd daughter. She sold with a carcass yield index of +10.

Second to take this call was Woodview Dinky, a Twyning Ash Vaughan daughter. Again ET bred she is out of Sygory Tara, a Totem De Chocquenee daughter. This one has a carcass index of +22.

And finally at 4000gns was Woodview Dianne, a June 2008-born Empire D’Ochain daughter. She is out of Woodview Alice, a Ridge Dean Physical daughter.

At 3600gns was Woodview Elinsey another Empire daughter. This August 2009-born heifer is out of Woodview BO, an Ingenieux Du Stordeur daughter with a carcass index of +17.
