Alanco Sprayranger gets new engine and air suspension
The latest version of Alanco’s Sprayranger self-propelled sprayer has a revised boom, new engine, automatic transmission and an engine-driven air compressor.
Power has been increased by fitting the latest Ford TDCi four-cylinder diesel engine, as used in the current Land Rover Defender. The Tier III common-rail powerplant is turbocharged and intercooled to produce 140hp.
Power is now put to the ground via a ZF auto transmission, with 10 forward speeds and two reverse ratios. A dash-mounted digital display shows gear selected, forward speed and engine data.
An engine-driven air compressor package replaces the former electrically-operated unit, giving greater output and allowing an air suspension system to be fitted.
The compressor also allows air-assisted folding of the cabin steps to prevent them fouling the crop and provides an on-board air line for blowing out nozzles and cleaning radiators.
There’s even a facility to angle the outer boom sections upwards, so the operator can now adjust the boom to avoid the ends hitting the ground in undulating fields.
Tank capacities go up to 2500 litres and booms go to 24m. An unladen weight of 4000kg makes the machine one of the lightest on the market, says the company and it’s suitable for farms of 1000 acres or more.
Reduction drive axles provide up to 700mm of ground clearance, depending on the wheels and tyres fitted. Four-wheel steer is optional, and a variety of controllers and guidance/auto-steer systems can be fitted.
