Claas improves on kit usability
Claas has updated its grass kit for the forthcoming silage season, namely its Disco trailed mower and its long-serving Rollant balers.
In an effort to improve usability and output the Disco 3050 Plus mower gains quick-change blades which can be replaced without tools.
Its parallel spring suspension system is now adjusted by winder handles rather than a bolt and a height gauge ensures an accurate cut.
Conditioner throughput has been boosted with extra V-tines added while the hood is altered for smoother crop-flow.
Customers can specify a hydraulically-driven belt-grouper which lays two swaths alongside each other in situations where raking is not possible or can be avoided.
Meanwhile the Rollant baler – which is the world’s best-selling baler according to Claas – has been subject to a number of upgrades for 2006, providing higher throughput and a better chop says Claas.
For improved reliability the balers are now fitted with heavy duty drive chains.
To achieve full-width edge-to-edge chopping, the number of Rotocut blades has increased from 14 to 16, giving a total cutting rate of over 8000 chops per minute.
Alongside the extra blades a heavier duty rotor is now fitted to Rotocut and Rotofeed models, with anti-wrap guards at each end.
The Disco 3050 trailed mower requires a 100hp tractor and in basic format costs £14,825 while the entry level Rollant 240 baler costs £15,920.
