Cataya EcoLine to replace Amazone’s popular AD combi drill
Amazone has introduced a bottom-of-the-range replacement for its venerable AD piggyback drill, which was retired at the end of 2023 after a 30-year production run.
Its successor, the 3m-wide Cataya Special EcoLine, follows a similar modular design, is equally simple and, says Amazone, should be just as reliable.

As before, a QuickLink coupling system allows it to be mounted on the firm’s KE Rotamix or KX- and KG-spec Cultimix power harrows without the need for any tools.
The latter comes with a levelling board and rubber wedge-ring roller for a finer consolidated finish.
Seed is carried in a redesigned 650-litre full-width hopper and gravity fed through the new Precis land-wheel-driven metering system.
Calibration is strictly manual by flipping a flap to direct seed away from the coulter tubes, then tipping the contents of two collection trays into a folding bucket for weighing.
Underneath, there’s a staggered bank of 24 single-disc coulters that provide a 12.5cm row spacing.
These are maintenance free, and each is paired with a depth-limiting disc or roller to maintain sowing consistency.
Trailing at the rear is a row of Exact spring-loaded harrow tines to cover the seed and leave an even finish.
Control is via Amazone’s AmaLog+ terminal, allowing operators to alter tramline settings, monitor output and view the hopper fill level.
List price is £17,760, or £31,985 when combined with an entry-level KE3002-150 power harrow.
