Production of wide-working air seeders at CNH’s factory in Saskatchewan, Canada, is being wound down in favour of a distribution agreement with Bourgault Industries, part of the Linamar group.

CNH’s new partner is based at Saint Brieux, 100 miles to the north-east, where Bourgault has long produced tine- and disc-coulter air drills and seed carts.

Former sister company Bourgault Tillage Tools, manufacturing cultivator points and tine coulters in the same town, is not involved.

With sizes up to 30m wide and seed cart capacity of as much as 45,800 litres, Bourgault Industries’ machines cater for prairie-style farming in Canada, the US, Australia and elsewhere, which are principal markets for the Case IH and New Holland branded versions.

CNH Industrial CEO Gerrit Marx said products resulting from the alliance will benefit from Bourgault’s seeding expertise and CNH’s precision-farming technology, while customers will gain from the global group’s distribution reach and financial services.

While the agreement ends a long history of air seeder production at CNH’s former Flexi-coil factory at Saskatoon, it will continue to produce precision planters and combine tables.
