Simtech TJG-300 tine direct drill gains bigger 1,000-litre hopper
T-Sem TJG-300 entry-level air drill with 1,000-litre hopper © Opico Growers who want a compact direct drill but have the tractor linkage capacity to lift a sizeable hopper and its contents are being catered for by Opico’s latest Simtech T-Sem seeder.
The tine coulter-carrying TJG-300 is a mounted machine that normally comes with a Stocks Ag air distribution system and a 400-litre poly container.
But users keen for less frequent fill-ups can now opt for the new 1,000-litre steel tank from the same firm.

The 3m T-Sem TJG-300 is described as an “entry level” air drill, in part because it is based on the frame of the long-established light-duty TSG, produced in 2.4m and 3m sizes.
A high-capacity seed metering mechanism for arable crops is available, achieving delivery rates of up to 320kg/ha when the optional hydraulic fan drive is installed, and it is interchangeable with one suited to grass seed, SFI mixes and cover crops.
Stocks Ag’s 4.3in iCon colour touchscreen controller provides automatic forward speed-related rate control, an extra-cost unlock option allows variable-rate seeding, and isobus implement control can also be had.
The ground-engaging elements of this latest T-Sem addition are familiar fare.
There are 20 spring-loaded discs spaced at 150mm centres to cut through surface vegetation and crop residues, followed by pigtail tines carrying “Z Tip” coulter points.
Manufactured from forged steel and with a tungsten tiled tip for longevity, these coulters create a 40mm wide inverted T-shaped slot for the seed to nestle in.
