Stocks Ag develops new metering roller for seed mixes

The challenge of accurately metering seed mixes that are increasingly varied in terms of seed size and shape has been taken up by Stocks Ag with a new design of metering roller.

Compatible with current Stocks metering blocks, the 14-Tooth Medium Roller has flexible-tipped vanes designed to ensure smooth distribution of diverse seed shapes.

Tim Farrow, the company’s technical director, explains the need for a new feed roller.  “We’ve had an increasing number of requests for seed rollers that can cope with wildly varying shapes and sizes of seed in the same mix, and the advent of the Sustainable Farming Incentive and increased interest in cover crops has only amplified this demand.”

Stocks Ag has drawn on its 30 years of experience to create the roller, which Tim adds has been thoroughly tested over the past 12 months with numerous crop mixes.

Growers can upgrade their current Fan Jet, Rotor Meter, Rotor Jet and Turbo Jet applicators by changing out the feed rollers or purchasing a complete feed block, which can be ordered through dealers or on the company’s new web-based platform.
