Weaving Fenix direct disc drill gets seed and fert option

Growers in the market for a Weaving Fenix direct disc drill now have the option of buying one with a split hopper and twin metering systems.

This allows it to be used for applying seed and fertiliser in a single pass, or two types of seed.

Inside, the hopper has a divider that splits the contents 60/40 and there are twin Accord-style electric metering units at the base of each section.

To keep the compact machine as clutter-free as possible, these feed into a single distribution head and network of pipes.

Depending on the configuration chosen by the customer, planting duties are handled by 24 or 32 heavy-duty disc coulters, which attach to the chassis using clamps and rubber torsion bars.

Like the regular drill, there’s a hydraulic fan that allows the tractor to be run at lower rpm and rubber exhaust boots by the coulters to reduce the risk of seed bounce.

Wafer weights can be added to help push the discs into hard ground, which are now slimmer than before and easier to lift.

The drill is only available in a 3m working width and the seed and fert version comes in at £39,800.

For those lacking a tractor with sufficient capacity to lift the drill, a trailed conversion kit can be purchased for £4,800.
